CCVT Car Show

Post by willhf1011 » Tue Aug 30, 2011 8:44 am

There are a number of members in the club that are also involved with The Car Club at Virginia Tech (CCVT). We think that it would be a great opportunity for our club to branch out and possibly reach a larger crowd if we were to directly associate the clubs a little bit.

On Sept. 10 CCVT is holding their first car show of the semester. In comparison to their normal show I understand this one will be a little smaller and less formal. They are using it primarily as a get to know everyone and make some noise on campus type event. We have been asked to participate as they'd like to have a 4x4 class. I told them we would bring out as many rigs as we could muster. The class is not limited to beat wheeling rigs. Tow rigs, SUVs, DD's etc are all welcome and encouraged.

Preregistration is $5, day of is $10 I believe. The show starts at 10 am that Saturday and will likely wrap up around noon. I think it'd be awesome if we showed up in numbers, it would be a good gesture towards the community. We can take some time after the show and then regroup and head out to Potts if that's what we decide on for the trip.

Also, something to put in everyone's ear for the moment. The big Fall car show will be September 24 in conjunction with Brew Do. This show will be more formal and have trophies for each class (4x4 included). We are looking at having our club essentially sponsor the 4x4 Class so once again a good showing by our members would be excellent. I believe NRV Jeep Club will be present as well, whether or not they will participate in the show is unknown at this point. This is another good opportunity for us to get our name out there and maybe pull in some more new members. I believe the registration costs are the same.

I think we could look at having the club cover the cost of registration at one of the shows if there was enough interest from members, we can discuss that once we start to get a head count.

CCVT guys please feel free to add to or correct anything I've said here.

Please take a sec to post your thoughts up in here and let us know if you think you can make either/both. I'd like to be able to give the car club a general headcount from us.

Waiting on confirmation but just checked again on CCVT site and it looks like the show on the 10th will be free, I'm confirming that now. Some info here. www.carclubvt.com

Also, take a moment to register for the shows if you know you will be there and make sure to note SC4WDA as the organization so we can help give them an idea of our presence.

I can make the 10th for sure. I guess I'm just going to look for all the 4x4s when I get there and hopefully try to meet some of the members of Sinking Creek 4wd

We will be hard to miss. Also, there will hopefully be a couple of us out at the promo on the Thursday before the show so if you're on campus and want to meet some people just drop by that. There will be someones rig there, just not sure which one yet.

I could probably come out to the Sept 10th one for fun, dependent upon architecture workload and whether or not I am conscious that early on a Saturday morning...

BTW: I've never entered anything in a car show. Does the Jeep actually have to be clean??? What does a car show judge 4x4's on anyway?

The Jeep needn't be clean, its judged by spectators who vote I believe. The show on the 10th is free, make sure to preregister for it so they can have a headcount.

Bumping this for the show on the 24th.

This one will be much more official, there will be trophies given out with multiple classes etc.

For those of you that came out to the one this past Saturday, thank you. It was a good gesture from our club. I know I had fun talking with everyone.

I encourage everybody to bring their rig out to the Brew Do show. There will be food there, as well as beer tasting (assuming youre 21). If you preregister it is $5 so it's not a huge cost. If we can get together a big 4x4 class we can keep this going in future years. There will be a cookout/bonfire after the show, not sure if we will combine with CCVT for that one or do a sperate SC4WDA one, we will play that by ear.

Anyone else wanna get tickets in advance for Brew Do? I've got a group together but need two more people so we can get the 10% discount in addition to the $5 off tickets for advance purchase.

Bump for the show today. Everyone who can please come out by 10:30 and bring your rigs to enter. CCVT was nice enough to get us a 4x4 trophy so I'd love to fill the class with everyone's rigs. If you don't have anything still come on out and hang out.

It's at the Bull n Bones shopping center on South Main, call me if you need better directions. The show is 11-4 but entries need to be there by 10:30
